thoughtlessness

Confounding! I was woken the second time at 3.30am by this blaring loud chant since beginning of month June! Where does this come from? Why would a religious group be so inconsiderate? Then this blaring chant comes on from 6am till 8.30am or 9am daily! Is this being devout or religious? Don't they know this is off-putting!

Is this religious tolerance?!

You know living in high-rise pick up lots of surrounding sounds especially from the ground level...but this blaring chant in the middle of the night is most uncalled for!

I have problem in returning to sleep after being woken and the rest of the day...you can imagine!

Yikes! You must be exhausted by now and very frustrated and cuyrious! I'd have to get up and follow the sound to its source just to find out and then aske them what the heck they're doing!

MOI: Thanks. Nice to have friends who understand and empathise.

It's difficult to find out where the sound comes from as this is concrete jungle here. However, there is a temple about half a mile away though. Then there are large tents constructed in open spaces to celebrate some of their activities. You really have to live here to understand what I'm saying. I go crazy some times!

Sometimes when there is a Chinese funeral service, the chanting can become quite loud. Why the organisers have to amplify that I don't understand. Like this morning around 10.30, the clanging of the cymbals were so loud which sounded like the clangers were angry at their job...apparently to ward off the evil...this went on for 30 minutes or more! Sad that these people believe such!

Besides, schools are around which must be difficult for students to concentrate and teachers to compete when they're trying to teach... What duress?!!!

Lea, as they say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Get out of bed, join the chant, then join the group and then convince them to change their 3:30 a.m. chanting to noonish. Who knows, it might turn into a life altering experience...

On second thought, get a good pair of headsets that geneate white noise and shut out everything else. They'll surprise you as to how much you can't hear. That approach would be much safer. Bob

Bob: Thanks for the suggestions. First one, knowing me, I'll bash them; 2nd I do have these.

Problem is once woken up, I just can't get back to sleep...day ruined!

Certainly I turned on instrumental music both classical or pop. On one occasion at 6am I played dance music and songs like...Let's Have a Party by Wanda Jackson; Stop in the Name of Love by Supreme; Ob-la-di ob-la-da...anything rowdy... the neighbors must either be thanking me or cursing me!!!

I guess it's not a problem when I turned on the air-conditioning with windows shut all night long but caught by surprise...!!!!????!!!
