talk, talk, talk

shhh...no talking in library!
......
These days, wherever you go, you find people on the mobile...buses, trains, at road crossings, walking, even while jogging! I wonder if these users know how loud they sound! That every conversation is heard! Privacy?! Rights?!
Sometimes, you do find individuals waving hands and some faces look angry or laughing... Yesteryears, if you were found in this situation, you're marked for the mental hospital. These days, it's ok to talk to self...i.e. with a mobile.
Are people so desperately lonely? Do they have to look busy?
Why the talk about stress then? Is stress not self-inflicted?!

One of the ones that got me was when I was walking round this huge toy store. I was in an empty alcove, and this man came in. He came up behind me, and started talking. Made me jump. Then I realised he must be talking to me, since there was no-one else around. I said, "Sorry, what did you say?" He looked at me as though I were mad. It wasn't until I spotted his headset I realised he was talking to someone using a headset... how embarrassing (though, whether for me or him I'm not entirely sure!! :-D )

It's a mixture of wanting to appear important and feeling a little insecure. I think it's rude, but I guess it's just a sign of the times!

annelisa: Haha! I was caught in a similar situation. At first I was exasperated but then...Thanks.

mother of invention: Thank you for pointing out another angle...
